Man, today I wanna talk about this Muay Thai fighter, Walter Goncalves. I’ve been following this guy for a while now, and let me tell you, his story is something else.

So, picture this: I was digging around the internet, trying to find some cool fighters to watch, and I stumbled upon this name – Walter Goncalves. At first, I was like, “Who’s this guy?” But then I started reading about him and watching his fights, and I was hooked. This dude came from the favelas in Brazil, you know, tough beginnings. He had nothing.
I started with gathering all the information about him. What did I do? Simply use the search engine and type in his name. It seems he is very popular. Then I looked up some of his matches. First, I noticed that he was booked to face Denkongchai Dabransalakham for the vacant WPMF Lightweight title. This was back in 2018. I watched the fight, and bam! He knocked the guy out in the second round. I was like, “Okay, this guy’s got some skills!”
Then, I followed him through the 2018 Muay Xtreme 60 kg tournament. I found out he faced Christian Hyatt in the finals. The fight was intense, and guess what? He won again! I mean, it’s like he was born to fight. At that time, I decided to be his fan.
As a big fan of him, I tried to get familiar with his story and I learned that he left Brazil as a teenager to train in Thailand. Can you imagine leaving everything behind to pursue your dream? That takes guts, man. But it shows how dedicated he is. It seems really hard for him.
I followed his career closely after that. I read about how his mom’s support was crucial for him. It made me appreciate him even more. Family is everything, right? Without his mom, he mentioned that he might not be where he is now.

Recently, I saw that he’s making a comeback at ONE 169 in Bangkok, Thailand, on Nov. 8. That’s huge! He will face Aliff in his strawweight debut. I’m marking my calendar for that one. And he’s even fought Rodtang Jitmuangnon, one of the top names in the sport. This guy is fearless!
- First, I found Walter Goncalves online.
- Then, I watched his fights, starting with the one against Denkongchai Dabransalakham.
- I followed him through the Muay Xtreme tournament.
- I learned about his background and move to Thailand.
- I read about his mom’s support.

So yeah, that’s my journey following Walter Goncalves. He’s a three-time Muay Thai World Champion. I felt like I was right there with him, from his early days to now. What’s cool is that I got to learn about Muay Thai and the dedication it takes to be a fighter. It’s inspiring, to say the least. And now, I am waiting for his new match in ONE 169. You bet I’ll be watching!
