Okay, so I saw these “sister studs” earrings online and thought, “I gotta try making those!” They looked simple enough, and I’m always up for a little DIY project.

Gathering My Stuff
First things first, I needed to round up my materials. I already had a bunch of old earrings I didn’t wear anymore, so I figured I could just repurpose those. I grabbed:
- Some old stud earrings (the kind with the flat backs)
- A pair of pliers (needle-nose ones, to be exact)
- Super glue (the gel kind, because it’s less messy)
- Some sandpaper (just a little piece)
Prepping the Earrings
I started by taking apart the old earrings. I used the pliers to carefully bend open the little prongs holding the gemstones or whatever in place. Some of them were pretty stubborn, but I eventually got them all apart. I just wanted the flat, metal backings.
Then, I used the sandpaper to rough up the surfaces of the earring backs a bit. This makes the glue stick better, or at least that’s what I read somewhere. I just gave them a quick scrub, nothing too crazy.
Gluing Time!
Now for the fun part! I put a tiny drop of super glue on the back of one stud and carefully pressed another stud onto it. The idea is to create a little “sister” stud connected to the original one. I made sure they were lined up how I wanted them, because once that super glue dries, it’s game over.
I held them together for a minute or two, just to make sure they were really stuck. Then, I did the same thing for the other earrings, creating matching pairs.

Waiting…and Done!
The hardest part was waiting for the glue to dry completely. I think I left them overnight, just to be extra safe. The next day, I checked them out, and they were solid! My very own “sister studs” created from old earrings I never wore. Pretty neat, huh?
The whole process wasn’t that hard, and it was kind of cool to make something new out of something old. I’m already thinking about what other earring combinations I can try!
