Wrapping Up That Russell Thing
Alright, let’s talk about finally getting that ‘end roll’ feeling on the Russell project. It felt like it dragged on forever, honestly.
We started this whole thing ages ago. Seemed simple at first, like most things do, right? But then it just got complicated. One thing after another. Bits bolted on here, pieces changed there. Classic scope creep, I guess you’d call it. Russell himself kept adding little tweaks. Nice guy, but man, those ‘small’ changes add up.
The last few weeks were a real grind. Seriously burning the midnight oil. I was mostly focused on:
- Running through all the final checks. Tedious stuff.
- Squashing those last few annoying bugs. You know the type, the ones that only show up when you think you’re done.
- Making sure all the documentation actually matched what we built. That part’s never fun.
- Getting the sign-off. That involved a lot of back-and-forth, emails, quick calls. Just draining.
It wasn’t smooth. There were moments I thought we’d have to backtrack significantly. We had this one issue pop up right at the end, completely unexpected. Took nearly two days to figure that one out. Found it was a tiny setting, buried deep somewhere. Always the way.
But, we pushed through. We just kept chipping away at it. Tick the box, move to the next item. That’s how you get through the end roll, right? One name, one task, at a time.
Finally got it across the line yesterday afternoon. Hit the button, sent the final confirmation. Felt good. Like, really good. That moment when you can finally close all those tabs, lean back, and just breathe. Done. Finished. The end roll finally stopped rolling for the Russell job.
Now, onto the next fire, I suppose. But at least this one’s closed out.
