Okay, so, I’ve been playing around with colors a lot lately, trying to figure out what goes well with what. You know, the usual. And rust, that warm, kind of earthy tone, it’s been on my mind. It’s such a cool color, but sometimes it can be a bit tricky to match up. So I started messing around, seeing what works and what doesn’t.

Experimenting with Colors
First, I grabbed a bunch of stuff from around the house that was kind of rusty-colored. I had this old scarf, a rusty-looking vase, and even some dried leaves that were kind of that color. Then I started going through my clothes, pulling out anything that I thought might look good with them.
- Blues: I tried a few different shades of blue first. A deep navy? Looked pretty good, kind of classy. A lighter, sky blue? Also nice, gave it a more relaxed vibe. So, blues were definitely a win.
- Greens: Next, I moved on to greens. A dark, forest green was awesome with the rust. It felt very natural, like something you’d see in nature. A lighter, minty green? Not so much. It just didn’t quite click.
- Neutrals: Then I thought about neutrals. White, of course, was fine. It’s white, it goes with everything. Cream was also pretty good, softened things up a bit. Black was a bit harsh, but I could see it working in some cases. Gray was kind of meh.
- Other Colors: I even tried some bolder colors. A bright yellow was surprisingly okay, very eye-catching. Purple was a no-go for me. And a deep red was just too much, kind of overwhelming.
My Findings
After all that, I kind of got a feel for what works with rust. Blues, especially darker ones, are great. Dark greens are also a good choice. With neutrals, white and cream are safe bets. And hey, if you’re feeling bold, a pop of bright yellow can actually work.
But, you know, this is just my little experiment. Colors are super personal, so what I like might not be what you like. The best thing to do is just play around and see what you think looks good. Have fun with it!
