Okay, so today I spent some time just drawing walls. Nothing fancy, just needed to get a basic layout idea down.
First thing, I fired up my old tablet. Didn’t need anything complicated, so I just opened up that basic drawing app that comes with it. You know the one, super simple interface.
Getting Started
I decided against using any special tools like rulers or grids initially. Just wanted a rough feel. So, I picked the pencil tool. Set the color to a standard black, maybe made the line thickness a little bit heavier so it would stand out.
Then, I just started. Put my stylus down on the screen and dragged it straight across. Well, mostly straight. That was wall number one. Just a simple line from left to right.
Adding More Walls
Next, I needed a connecting wall. Started from the end point of that first line. Dragged the stylus down this time, trying to keep it at a right angle. Took a couple of tries to get it looking okay-ish, not perfectly perpendicular but good enough for a rough sketch.
I kept going like that:
- Draw a line.
- Start the next line from the end of the previous one.
- Tried to connect them up to make a sort of box shape, like a room.
Ended up with four walls connected, forming a rectangle. It wasn’t precise, the corners weren’t perfect 90 degrees, and the lines were a bit wobbly. But that wasn’t the point today.
The main thing was just getting the basic shape down visually. Seeing it there on the screen, even as a rough sketch, helped clear my head a bit. It’s just a simple representation, four lines making a space. Sometimes that’s all you need to start with.
