So, I’ve been messing around with this whole “waste management standings” thing lately. You know, trying to make sense of how we’re doing with all the trash we create. It’s a real eye-opener, I gotta tell ya.

Started off pretty clueless, just like most folks, I guess. I mean, we all throw stuff away, but where does it all go, right? I decided to dig in and see what’s what.
- First thing I did was check out this company called WM. Turns out, they’re the big dogs in the waste management game. Garbage collection, landfills, the whole nine yards. They’ve got landfills all over the U.S., which is kinda crazy when you think about it.
- Then, I got into the whole recycling scene. It’s a bit of a mess, to be honest. Lots of gaps and missed opportunities. But hey, at least people are trying, I figured.
- I found out that WM is not just about trash. They call themselves “North America’s leading provider of integrated environmental solutions.” Fancy way of saying they deal with reducing waste and all that jazz, from collecting it to getting rid of it.
- While reading up, I learned that WM’s third-quarter earnings were up from last year, and they beat Wall Street estimates. Made me think about their stock and all the shareholders that are involved. They also talk about how many shares are outstanding.
- I also stumbled upon this other company, GFL. They’ve been buying up smaller waste businesses, especially ones that do recycling. Seems like they’re trying to get a bigger piece of the pie.
Putting It All Together
After all this digging, I realized it’s a huge industry. It’s not just about picking up trash; it’s a whole system. And if we want to do better for the planet, we need to understand how this system works. So, I decided to put all this information together, and it’s helped me see the bigger picture. I started to realize that it is important to make sure that the waste is managed correctly.
It’s been a wild ride, learning all this stuff. Definitely makes you think twice about what you’re throwing away and how it all works behind the scenes. Still not an expert, but at least I’m not totally in the dark anymore!
