Okay, Week 16, Getting Started
Alright, so this week, week 16, was all about kicking off this ‘sitem’ thing. Felt like a fresh start, you know? Monday morning, I got my coffee, sat down, and first thing I did was just clear my desk. Needed a clean space to think straight.

Then, I grabbed my notebook. Didn’t even touch the computer yet. Just started jotting down the main goals for this thing. What does it absolutely need to do? Kept it simple, real basic stuff.
- Get the basic structure planned out.
- Figure out what tools I actually need right now.
- Set up the initial, like, bare-bones version.
- Make sure I can actually access it easily.
Spent a good chunk of Monday just on that planning phase. Talked myself through the process, like explaining it to someone else. Helps me catch stupid mistakes early on. Found a few things I hadn’t considered, mostly about how different parts would talk to each other later. Better to think about that now than get stuck later.
Tuesday, I moved to the computer. Started by setting up the basic file folders. Where everything’s gonna live. Sounds dumb, but getting the organization right from the beginning saves headaches. Then I installed the couple of software tools I decided on. Nothing fancy, just the essentials.
Wednesday was a bit of a drag. Tried getting the first piece working, like the main entry point or dashboard. Ran into some weird configuration issue. Took me nearly half the day fiddling with settings, reading some documentation – which, honestly, wasn’t super helpful. Felt like banging my head against a wall for a bit.
But, you know, persistence. Finally figured it out late Wednesday. It was some tiny little checkbox hidden away somewhere. Always is, isn’t it? Felt good to get past that block, though.

Thursday, I built on that small success. Started putting the main sections together, based on the notes from Monday. Just placeholders mostly, no real functionality yet, but the skeleton started to take shape. Made sure I could navigate between the basic parts I’d mocked up.
Friday, I spent the morning cleaning things up a little. Added some comments in the setup files, explaining what I did, especially that tricky bit from Wednesday. Future me will probably thank me for that. Then I just did a quick run-through, made sure the basic thing I’d put together was stable, wasn’t crashing or anything.
So, end of week 16. Got the groundwork laid. It’s not much to look at yet, just bones, really. But it’s a start. The planning is done, the basic environment is set up, and the core structure is there. Next week is about adding some actual meat to those bones. Feels like decent progress for the first week just diving into it.
