Okay, so I finally got around to reading Invincible. Took me long enough, right? Heard all the noise about it, especially after that show popped up. Figured I should see what the original fuss was all about.

Getting Started
I managed to grab the first few collections. Didn’t really know what to expect, honestly. Looked like pretty standard superhero stuff at the jump. Young guy gets powers, figuring things out, you know the drill. The art style was cool, kinda clean and bright.
So I started reading through the first few issues. It was enjoyable, yeah. Mark Grayson seemed like a relatable kid, dealing with school, girls, and suddenly having these crazy powers from his dad, Omni-Man, who’s like the biggest hero on the planet. Felt familiar, kinda comfy.
Then Things Changed
Man, I remember hitting that part. If you’ve read it, you know exactly what I’m talking about. It just flipped the whole thing on its head. I literally put the book down and just stared at the wall for a minute. Totally did not see that coming. That was the moment I knew I had to read the whole damn thing.
After that? Forget about pacing myself.
- I was tearing through volumes.
- Staying up way too late reading.
- Thinking about the story when I wasn’t reading.
It just pulls you in. The scale gets massive, the fights are brutal, and the story just keeps throwing curveballs.

The Long Haul
Reading the whole series is a commitment, for sure. It’s a long story. But watching Mark grow up, seeing him deal with all the insane stuff thrown his way, it felt earned. You see the consequences, the losses. It’s not just reset every issue. Stuff sticks.
I heard somewhere that getting those early single issues, like number one, in really top shape is incredibly hard now. Like, only a handful graded super high exist or something. Makes sense, I guess, with how popular it got. Glad I just read the collections, way easier!
Wrapping It Up
Finished the whole run a little while back. It felt… satisfying. A real sense of completing a big journey alongside the characters. It’s violent, it’s funny, it’s got heart, it gets pretty crazy. Didn’t expect to get so invested, but I really did. If you like superhero stories but want something that doesn’t pull its punches and tells a long, developing story, yeah, I’d say give it a shot. Definitely a wild ride.
