Alright, so the other day I was watching some NBA highlights, and Anthony Edwards, man, that guy’s been killing it! It got me thinking back to his high school days. I remember he was a beast back then, but I couldn’t recall who was considered the number 2 player on his team. It’s funny how these things pop into your head, right?
So, I grabbed my phone and started digging. First, I just typed in “Anthony Edwards high school” into the search bar. A bunch of stuff came up about him being a five-star recruit and all that, which I already knew. He was wearing the number 5 jersey in most of the pictures, a tribute to his mom and grandmother, which is a pretty cool story in itself.
Then I got a little more specific and searched for “who was 2 on anthony edwards high school team”. The results were a bit confusing at first. It said that Anthony Edwards wore number 1 and 5, which was not what I asked. Most results were about him being the number one overall pick in the 2020 draft, going to the Minnesota Timberwolves. That’s cool and all, but not what I was after.
There was some buzz about people comparing him to Jordan, even Jordan himself said he saw some similarities, which is insane! But I just couldn’t find that other piece of the puzzle. I spent a good chunk of time scrolling through articles and videos, trying to find any mention of his high school teammates. It’s crazy how much information is out there about Edwards, but almost nothing about the guys he played with in high school.
I even tried looking up his old high school’s roster, thinking maybe they had some old stats or something. No luck. It was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Honestly, I was about to give up. It’s not like it was super important or anything, but it was bugging me!
I have to say, this little search journey was a bit of a dead end. Maybe the info is out there somewhere, buried deep in some old forum or local newspaper archive, but I couldn’t find it. It just goes to show how much the spotlight shines on the top players, and sometimes the other guys on the team get forgotten. It would have been cool to know who else was balling out with Edwards back in the day, but I guess it’ll remain a mystery, at least for now.
