The story of Moses sister: Why is she famous? Find out in this easy-to-read guide!

Today, I wanna talk about something called “Moses’ sister”. I didn’t even know Moses had a sister until recently. So, I started digging around to learn more about this.

The story of Moses sister: Why is she famous? Find out in this easy-to-read guide!

First, I grabbed my Bible and started flipping through the pages of Exodus. I figured that’s where I’d find something about Moses, right? And sure enough, there she was, mentioned a few times but never by name. It’s always just “his sister” this and “his sister” that. It’s like she’s a secret agent or something.

Then, I went to the internet. You know, typing in stuff like “Moses’ sister” and “Who was Moses’ sister?” into the search bar. I found a bunch of articles and stuff, and guess what? Her name is Miriam! It’s like finding a hidden treasure. Some sites were all fancy and scholarly, while others were just regular blogs like this one. It felt like a real mixed bag.

Reading about it

  • I read that Miriam was the one who watched baby Moses float down the Nile in a basket. How crazy is that? She was just a kid herself, but she had the guts to follow the basket and make sure he was safe.
  • And get this, when the Pharaoh’s daughter found the baby, Miriam popped up and offered to find a Hebrew woman to nurse him. Talk about quick thinking! She basically saved her baby brother’s life.
  • Later on, after the whole parting of the Red Sea thing, Miriam led the women in a song and dance celebration. It says she played a tambourine and everything. I bet that was a pretty wild party.

I also learned that Miriam was considered a prophetess, just like Moses. That’s a pretty big deal. It means she spoke for God and stuff. I always thought of Moses as the main guy, but it turns out Miriam was a big shot too.

Finally found out

So, yeah, that’s what I’ve been up to today – learning about Moses’ sister, Miriam. It’s been a bit of a rabbit hole, but a fun one. I feel like I’ve uncovered a whole new side to the Bible story. And who knows, maybe I’ll even start playing the tambourine now. Just kidding… or am I?

Anyway, that’s all for now. Hope you found this little adventure as interesting as I did!
