Okay, so, I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while now, and it’s been a real head-scratcher. I wanted to find “zz” in The Motherlode, and let me tell you, it wasn’t a walk in the park.

First, I jumped into the game and headed straight to the top of the pyramid, near where the flight master hangs out. I spotted some goblins there, and that’s where it all began. I picked up a quest from Gallywix on the boat, which I think was the intro to the whole Motherlode thing.
After that, I had to do this “We Require More Minerals” quest. Man, that was a bit of a grind, but I powered through. Eventually, I got to a point where this character, Dagran Thaurissan II, told me about a cave. He said to look for a large cave at the north edge of the site and that the final array of crushers would be in there. The master switch, that’s what I was after. So, I made my way to the Shadowvein Mine.
Investigating the Shadowvein Mine
Then there was this other quest where I had to investigate a cave that someone named Excavator Karla mentioned. This whole thing took place in the Broken Shore. I remember some cryptic message, “Pst… Come ‘ere,” which was kinda weird, but hey, that’s part of the adventure, right?
Another quest I tackled involved employing ZZ-01-47 to scout the Golem Factory. This one started and ended in The Ringing Deeps. The idea was that ZZ-01-47 could sneak in without causing too much trouble. And let me tell you, sneaking around is not my forte, but I managed somehow.
The Zeppelin Crash
- At some point, I learned about a crisis. Our zeppelin, The Mother Lode, crashed onto the south mountain range. It was supposed to be just an observation mission, but things went south, literally.
- I also stumbled upon some info about camping spots, and how placing a vendor in a certain spot could make the motherlode pop out of the ground. I tried that a few times, not really related to finding “zz” but interesting nonetheless.
No More Dungeon Quests
I even read through some patch notes and found out that the dungeon quests for unlocking certain races aren’t required anymore. That was a relief, to be honest. Fewer hoops to jump through.

The Final Steps
Now, here’s where things got interesting. I made my way left and hopped into an elevator. In that room, I defeated two Mole Miner Scrapers and headed to the bottom. I deployed a repair beacon by inserting it into a Beacon Launcher. Then, after the motherlode left, I went to the left and collected the Motherlode’s gift from a Docking Station Dispenser. Sounded simple enough, right?
I also interacted with a research terminal and accessed some research notations, specifically the ones about power struggles. This gave me a beacon code, 36984. Then I used a keypad to punch that code into a security box behind the terminal. Felt like a real spy, you know?
Lastly, I found out that this place is located east of the Charleston Trainyard and south of Charleston Station, in the city of Charleston. It’s right there with the Charleston Herald and Charleston Capitol Building. I explored the upper floor, found an elevator, and used my ID card to access the executive floor. And that, my friends, is how I finally got to the bottom of this whole “zz” mystery in The Motherlode. Took some time, a lot of running around, but I did it!
