suzuki rm250f Review & Specs: A Real-World Look at This Bike!

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with dirt bikes my whole life, and recently I got my hands on a Suzuki RM250F. Thought I’d share my experience getting it up and running, ’cause it was a bit of a project.

Getting Started

First off, this wasn’t a brand-new bike. It was used, a bit rough around the edges, and definitely needed some TLC. I picked it up from a guy who said it “ran when parked,” which, as any gearhead knows, usually means “it doesn’t run now.”

The Teardown

First thing I did was give it a good look-over. Checked the basics: tires, chain, sprockets, brakes. All the usual suspects. The tires were worn, the chain was rusty, and the brakes… well, let’s just say they weren’t stopping anything anytime soon.

Then, I started digging in deeper. I pulled the plastics off to get a better look at the engine and frame. Found some dirt, some grime, and a few questionable wiring choices by the previous owner.

  • Air Filter: The air filter was completely clogged. Like, solid mud. No wonder it wouldn’t start. I tossed that immediately.
  • Carburetor: I took the carb apart and, surprise surprise, it was full of gunk. I soaked it in cleaner, blew out all the jets, and put it back together.
  • Spark Plug: The spark plug was fouled. Swapped it out for a new one. Easy fix.

Putting It Back Together

With the carb cleaned and the new spark plug in, I tried to fire it up. No dice. Still wouldn’t start. I checked for spark, and it was weak. So, I started tracing wires, looking for a bad connection or a broken wire.

After a while of messing with it, I found a loose connection on the coil. I tightened that up, checked all the other connections, and tried again. It sputtered a bit, coughed, and then… ROARED to life! Success!

The Finishing Touches

It was running, but it wasn’t running great. So, I spent some time adjusting the carburetor, getting the idle right, and making sure it was running smoothly. Then I replaced the chain and sprockets, put on some new tires, and bled the brakes. Finally, I put all the plastics back on.

It took a few days, some elbow grease, and a few choice words, but I finally got that RM250F running like a champ.
