Hey everyone, so I’ve been messing around with this “guardians gold glove” thing, and I wanted to share my experience. It’s been a bit of a wild ride, let me tell you.
First off, I started by digging into what this whole “Gold Glove” thing actually is. Turns out, it’s an award given to baseball players who are super good at fielding. Like, the best of the best. It’s been around since 1957, which is way before I was even a thought. Rawlings is the company that gives out the award. They get a bunch of managers and coaches to vote on who they think is the top fielder at each position, and boom, you got your Gold Glove winners.
- I found out that the 2024 finalists were announced on October 15th, pretty neat.
- Learned about Giménez and Kwan winning this award for three years straight. Seriously, three years in a row!
- Also, the Guardians have had multiple winners in five of the last six seasons. Talk about dominating the field!
Then I dove into some specifics. Apparently, to pick the winners, they get 30 MLB managers and up to six coaches from each team to vote. They can only vote for players in their league and not from their own team. Makes sense, keeps it fair. These votes count for 75% of the final decision. Then I realized that Brayan Rocchio and Jose Ramirez did not get this award this year.
I also found out about some other players like Brenton Doyle and Ezequiel Tovar winning this year. And the Guardians? They had five players nominated, which was tied for the most in the American League. One of them was even a pitcher, Shane Bieber. Discovered that Carlos Santana is 39 years old.
So, I spent a good chunk of time just reading through articles and stuff, trying to piece it all together. It’s a lot of information, but it’s pretty cool to see how it all works. This Gold Glove thing is a big deal in baseball, and it’s awesome to see how much these players are valued for their defensive skills.
In the end, I realized that getting the Guardians Gold Glove is no joke. It takes a ton of skill and recognition from the higher-ups in baseball. It’s been a fun little project, diving into this world. Definitely learned a lot and got a new appreciation for these amazing athletes.
