Searching for Dennis Powell baseball cards? Learn about their value and history now.

My Little Dig into Dennis Powell

So, the other day, I got thinking about Dennis Powell. Yeah, the baseball player. It wasn’t like some big research project, more like one of those things that just pops into your head, you know? I was actually cleaning out the garage, trying to make some space, and stumbled upon a box of old sports magazines from way back when.

Flipping through one, I saw his name mentioned in an old game summary. Dennis Powell. The name sounded familiar, but I couldn’t quite place him perfectly. Pitched for the Dodgers, Mariners, Brewers, right? I remembered him being around but didn’t recall much specific stuff off the top of my head.

Getting Started

Curiosity got the better of me. Put the cleaning on hold for a bit. Went inside and pulled out some of my older baseball encyclopedias. You know, the big thick ones with all the stats. Started looking him up. Found his basic career numbers, teams he played for. Standard stuff.

But then I remembered seeing him pitch in a specific game, or maybe I thought I did. Was it against the Mets? Late 80s? That’s where it got fuzzy. The encyclopedias gave me the years and the teams, but not that specific game feel I was trying to recall.

The Deep Dive (Sort Of)

So, I fired up the computer. Didn’t go crazy, just did some basic searching. Typed in “Dennis Powell baseball pitcher” and variations of that. Looked through image results trying to jog my memory. Saw a bunch of pictures, some baseball cards. Yeah, definitely remember that face now.

I spent a good hour just clicking around, reading bits and pieces on different pages. Found some fan forums where people talked about players from that era. Scrolled through some discussions. It’s funny how deep you can get into this stuff without really meaning to.

  • Checked his stats year by year.
  • Tried to find highlights or game footage (mostly struck out there, old stuff is hard to find).
  • Looked at box scores from the years I was thinking of.

Finding the Nugget

Didn’t find the exact game I thought I remembered. Maybe I mixed him up with someone else, happens all the time. But I did stumble across something cool. Found a really clear photo of him pitching for the Mariners, not one I’d seen before. And reading through an old newspaper archive online, I found a quote from him after a particular game back in ’89. It wasn’t earth-shattering, just a regular post-game comment, but it felt like finding a little piece of history, connecting back to that time.

So yeah, that was my little Dennis Powell rabbit hole. Didn’t uncover any state secrets or find a million-dollar rookie card. Just spent some time digging into the past of a player I remembered vaguely. It’s kind of relaxing sometimes, just sifting through old sports history like that. Took me back a bit. Now, about finishing cleaning that garage…
