So, I’ve been following this baseball player named Ryan Gusto for a while now. I mean, this guy, he’s been with the Houston Astros, but it’s been kind of a wild ride.
First off, I started digging into his background. The guy, born in ’99, played college ball at Florida SouthWestern State College. That’s where I first heard about him. Then, in the draft, the Astros picked him up in the 11th round. I was like, “Alright, this is a pretty big deal,” and got excited for him. But then I learned he hasn’t actually played a game for them yet. It’s like he’s on the team, but not really, you know? They call him a “phantom ballplayer.” He was on the active roster for just one day.

I checked out his stats on some websites, but there wasn’t much to see since he hasn’t played in the majors. All I could find were his minor league stats. I was a bit bummed about that. I really wanted to see what he could do at the major league level.
I did see that he was named a Co-Pitcher of the Year for Sugar Land, leading them in innings pitched. That got me a little hyped up. It’s like, this guy has potential, but he’s just not getting the chance to show it. It’s kind of frustrating, to be honest.
The Waiting Game
So, I’m basically just waiting to see what happens with him. It feels like he’s got the skills, but he’s stuck in this weird limbo. Will he ever get to play for the Astros? Will he get traded? Who knows! It’s all up in the air right now.
I guess that’s the life of a baseball fan, though. You get attached to these players, follow their careers, and hope for the best. Sometimes it pays off, and sometimes you’re left wondering “what if?” For now, I’ll keep an eye on Ryan Gusto and hope he finally gets his shot.
