Rotterdam to Amsterdam Trip: Your Simple Guide!

Okay, so I wanted to go from Rotterdam to Amsterdam. It seemed simple enough, right? I mean, they’re both in the Netherlands, how hard could it be?

Rotterdam to Amsterdam Trip: Your Simple Guide!

First, I checked the train times. I figured that would be the easiest way. I used one of those journey planner apps on my phone – super convenient. It gave me a bunch of options, like every 15 minutes or so. Plenty of trains!

Getting to the Station

Next, I had to actually get to Rotterdam Centraal station. I was staying near the city center, so I just hopped on a tram. It was a quick ride, maybe 10 minutes, and dropped me right outside the station. Easy peasy.

At the Station

Once I was inside, I looked at the big departure boards. You know, the ones with all the times and track numbers? I found my train – it was leaving in about 20 minutes, plenty of time. I already had my ticket on my phone (bought it online earlier), so I didn’t need to mess around with the ticket machines.

  • Find the right platform.
  • Wait for the train (grabbed a coffee while I waited).
  • Get on the train!

The Train Ride

The train ride itself was pretty uneventful. I found a seat by the window, put my bag on the overhead rack, and just watched the scenery go by. It’s mostly flat countryside, with some canals and windmills – very Dutch! It took about an hour, maybe a little less.

Arriving in Amsterdam

Finally, the train pulled into Amsterdam Centraal. I grabbed my bag, got off the train, and followed the crowds out of the station. And bam! I was in Amsterdam, ready to explore.

Honestly, the whole thing was super straightforward. The trains are frequent, the stations are well-organized, and it’s all pretty efficient. No complaints here!
