Remembering awesome costume ideas men 2017? See which ones were most popular then!

Alright, let’s talk about figuring out a costume back in 2017. I remember needing something for a party, felt like ages ago now, but the process sticks with me.

So, the first thing I did was just sit down and think. What was popular that year? My mind immediately went blank, happens every time. So, I grabbed my laptop, cracked it open, and just typed the obvious into the search bar: “costume ideas men 2017”. Simple as that.

Loads of stuff popped up, naturally. I started clicking through images and articles. What did I see?

  • Superheroes: Always a thing. Wonder Woman was huge that year, but for guys, maybe Thor from Ragnarok? Or someone from Justice League? Seemed like a lot of spandex, maybe too much effort for me.
  • Star Wars: Always reliable. I think ‘The Last Jedi’ was coming out around then? So, Jedi robes, Kylo Ren maybe. Easy enough to find parts for that.
  • IT / Pennywise: Man, that clown was everywhere. Looked cool, really creepy. But then I thought about the makeup. Getting that right seemed like a whole afternoon project. Pass.
  • Game of Thrones: Still popular. Jon Snow? A White Walker? Again, seemed like a commitment, getting the look right.
  • Rick and Morty: Saw a few Rick Sanchez ideas. Lab coat, wig, portal gun prop. Doable, kind of funny.

Sorting Through the Mess

Okay, so I had this big digital pile of ideas. Now what? I started thinking practically.

Effort Level: This was key. Did I want to spend hours on makeup or building props? Honestly, no. I wanted something I could mostly assemble from stuff I had or could buy easily.

Budget: Didn’t want to drop a ton of cash on something I’d wear once. So those fancy, screen-accurate superhero suits were out.

Comfort: Was I going to be standing around at a party? Needed something I could actually move and breathe in. Heavy armor or complicated masks didn’t sound fun after an hour.

Making the Call

I tossed out Pennywise pretty quickly because of the makeup. The superhero stuff felt like too much work for the payoff unless you really went all out. Game of Thrones characters often needed specific clothing items I didn’t have.

I kept coming back to the simpler ideas. A Jedi was still on the table – brown bathrobe, maybe a toy lightsaber? Rick Sanchez was tempting too, just needed a lab coat basically. Even thought about just going classic – vampire, pirate, you know the drill. Low effort, instantly recognizable.

In the end, I think I landed on something pretty low-key. Might have even just done a slightly better version of a lumberjack or something equally simple. Can’t honestly remember the final exact outfit! But I definitely remember the process of scrolling through all those 2017 trends – Pennywise, Star Wars, superheroes – and weighing them against how lazy I felt. That’s how it usually goes, right? Find the easiest thing that still counts as a costume. Job done.
