Reaching Honda MSX 125 Max Speed: What Riders Need to Know!

Alright, folks, gather ’round! Today, I wanna talk about my little beast, the Honda MSX 125, also known as the Grom in some places. I’ve been putting this tiny terror to the test, and I’m here to spill the beans on how fast this thing can really go.

Reaching Honda MSX 125 Max Speed: What Riders Need to Know!

First off, I got my hands on this bike last year. It’s a 2014 model, and let me tell you, it’s a blast to ride. It’s got this 125cc engine that’s surprisingly peppy. They say it puts out about 9.6 horsepower, which might not sound like much, but on a bike that weighs around 222 pounds, it’s plenty.

So, the first thing I did was to take it out on some backroads. I wanted to see what it could do without worrying too much about traffic. I started easy, getting a feel for the bike. It’s got this cool little LCD dash that shows your speed and has a couple of trip meters, which is neat.

I gradually opened up the throttle, and man, this thing is nimble! Zipping around corners was a joy. But I was really itching to find out its top speed. I found a nice, long straightaway and decided to go for it. I tucked in as much as I could, which, on a bike this small, feels a bit silly, but hey, every little bit helps, right?

  • First run: I hit about 55 mph. Not bad, but I felt like it had more in it.
  • Second run: This time, I managed to squeeze out 60 mph. The engine was screaming, and I was grinning from ear to ear.
  • Third run: I tried a different stretch of road, slightly downhill. I saw the speedo creep up to 62 mph. I think that was pretty much it, though.

Now, I’ve heard some folks say they’ve seen 70 mph on theirs, but honestly, 60-ish feels like the realistic limit. I mean, the engine’s revving like crazy, and you can feel the wind really pushing against you. This little bike wasn’t made for breaking any land speed records, that’s for sure.

My Final Thoughts

So, there you have it. My little experiment with the Honda MSX 125’s top speed. It’s a fun little machine, perfect for zipping around town and having a blast on backroads. But if you’re looking for something to take on the highway, you might want to look elsewhere. This thing shines in the city, not on long stretches of open road. Around town, it’s an absolute hoot, but on those bigger roads, it definitely starts to feel a bit out of its element.

Anyway, that’s my two cents. Hope you enjoyed my little speed adventure. Ride safe, everyone!
