Okay, so today I decided to hit up RiverPointe Golf Course. I’d heard some good things about it, and honestly, I just needed to get out of the house and whack some balls.

Getting Started

First thing I did was check the weather. You know how it is – gotta make sure you’re not going to get rained out halfway through the back nine. Looked good, so I booked a tee time online. Super easy, took like two minutes.

Pre-Game Prep

Next, I gathered my gear. I made sure that my clubs were all cleaned up (they weren’t, so I gave them a quick wipe). Found my glove, which, let’s be real, has seen better days. And of course, grabbed a bunch of balls. I tend to lose a few…or more than a few.

I wore comfortable clothes. I picked up my favourite golf shirt and shorts. Gotta look somewhat presentable, right?

At the Course

I arrived at the course about 30 minutes early. Checked in at the pro shop – the guy there was pretty chill. I bought a scorecard and a pencil from him. I like to track down my scores to beat it next time, even if I’m not a great player.

Headed to the driving range to warm up. Started with some easy swings with my pitching wedge, then worked my way up to the driver. Felt pretty good, surprisingly. I wasn’t shanking them too badly.

The Game Itself

  • First few holes were decent. Managed to par a couple, which is always a win for me.
  • Lost a ball in the water on the 5th. Classic. Should’ve played it safe, but I went for the hero shot. Didn’t pay off.
  • Had a pretty good run on the back nine. My short game was actually working for once!
  • Finished with a…well, let’s just say it wasn’t my best score ever. But I had fun, and that’s what counts.

Post-Game

After the round, I grabbed some water at the clubhouse. I don’t drink beer so I just needed water to cool down. Cleaned my clubs (for real this time) and headed home.

Overall, it was a good day. RiverPointe is a nice course. Not too challenging, but enough to keep it interesting. I’ll definitely be back. Maybe next time I’ll even break 100…
