Alright, so I wanted to dive deep into the 2017 NY Giants season. You know, really break it down and see what went wrong. I’m a huge Giants fan, so this was kinda painful, but also, I think, necessary.

First, I gathered all the data I could find. I mean everything. Game results, player stats, injury reports, even some news articles and analysis from back then. I wanted the full picture, not just the “official” narrative.
Digging Into The Data
- I started with the schedule and results. Just looking at that win-loss record…oof. 3-13. That’s rough, even for a rebuilding year (which, let’s be honest, it kinda was).
- Next, I wanted the player data.. I checked how many yards Eli Manning, also Odell Beckham Jr. and others .
- Then, I looked at injuries. This is where things started to get really interesting, and by interesting, I mean depressing. The Giants were decimated by injuries that year, especially on offense.
After gathering all this, I organized it. I put it all in a spreadsheet. Yeah, I’m a nerd, I know. But it helped me see the patterns. It’s one thing to know the Giants had a bad season, it’s another to see it laid out in cold, hard numbers.
Then, I started to look at specific games. I rewatched some of them (again, painful), focusing on key moments. I wanted to see when things went wrong, and if there were any turning points. Was there a specific game or injury that just derailed the whole season?
Finally, I put it all together. I wrote up my findings, trying to be as objective as possible. It’s easy to get emotional about your favorite team, but I wanted to present the facts, as clearly as I could.
This was the way to do it. I can see a clear vision.
