Nativity Scene Mini NYT Collection: Check Out the Full Set

Okay, here’s my story about how I tackled the “nativity scene” clue in the NYT Mini Crossword.

Nativity Scene Mini NYT Collection: Check Out the Full Set

So, this morning, I started my day like any other day. Made some coffee, sat down at my desk, and opened up the New York Times Mini Crossword. You know, the usual routine to get the brain going. I was cruising along pretty well, knocking out the first few clues like it was nothing.

But then, I hit a wall. The clue was “Nativity scene”, and I was totally blanking. I mean, I know what a nativity scene is, I grew up with that stuff! But for some reason, the word just wasn’t coming to me. I stared at those five empty squares, feeling like a total dummy.

Trying to Figure It Out

First, I tried to visualize a nativity scene. You know, baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the animals, the whole nine yards. Nothing. Then I started thinking about other words related to Christmas and religious stuff. Still nothing. I even googled “Nativity scene” to see if anything would jog my memory. Nope, not a chance.

I was getting pretty frustrated at this point. It’s such a simple clue, but my brain was just not cooperating. I decided to take a break, walked around a bit, refilled my coffee, hoping that would help.

Finally Got It!

When I came back to the puzzle, I looked at the clue again, and then it hit me. The word is “creche”! Down 5, “CRECHE”. How could I forget that? I quickly typed it in, and bam, the puzzle was complete.

It was such a relief to finally figure it out. I mean, it’s just a five-letter word, but it felt like a major victory.

So yeah, that’s my little adventure with the NYT Mini Crossword today. Just goes to show that even the simplest things can trip you up sometimes. But hey, at least I got there in the end! Anyone else struggle with this clue, or was it just me?
