Okay, so today I decided to dive into the world of Russian hockey, specifically the MHL. I’ve always been a huge hockey fan, but mostly stuck to the NHL. I figured it was time to branch out and see what the MHL was all about.

First, I needed to figure out where to even watch the games. This proved to be a bit trickier than I expected. I started by hitting up the usual sports streaming sites, but no luck. Most of them were focused on North American sports, surprise, surprise.
Then, I remembered someone mentioning something about a Russian streaming service. I spent a good chunk of time Googling around, trying different search terms, and finally stumbled upon a few options. It was all in Russian, which I don’t speak a word of, so it was a lot of clicking and hoping for the best, let me tell you.
- I found what I believed to be a schedule.
- I compared the times with my local time, doing the mental gymnastics of time zone conversion.
- I picked a game that seemed interesting, based purely on the team logos because, hey, why not?
Eventually,I found the right website, and managed to navigate to the live stream, which was another adventure in itself. The quality wasn’t amazing, but hey, I was watching MHL hockey!.
The Game Itself
The game was… fast. Seriously, these guys were flying up and down the ice. I don’t know if it’s the style of play or just the particular teams I was watching, but it felt different from the NHL games I’m used to. A lot of skill on display and I really enjoyed watching that.
I definitely plan on watching more MHL games. It was a fun little project figuring out how to access it, and the hockey itself was totally worth it. It’s always cool to see how the game is played in different parts of the world.
