Okay, so, today I’m gonna walk you through my little experiment, what I’m calling the “men’s locker room shower” setup. Yeah, you heard right. Let’s dive in.

First things first, I planned it all out. This wasn’t some spur-of-the-moment thing, okay? I grabbed a notebook – yeah, old school – and sketched out the layout. Measured the space I had in my spare bathroom. Key thing was making sure I had enough room to actually move around.
Then, the shopping spree began. I needed a shower head, obviously. Went for one of those rainfall types, thought it’d be a nice touch. Got some PVC pipes, fittings, the whole shebang. Oh, and a shower curtain rod – gotta keep the water contained, right?
Next, the tear-down. I removed the old shower head and fixtures. This was the part where I almost messed things up. There was this one stubborn bolt that just wouldn’t budge. Ended up having to use some WD-40 and a whole lotta elbow grease. Finally got it off!
Okay, now the assembly. I started piecing together the PVC pipes, using those fittings to connect everything. This was like building a Lego set, but with plumbing. Made sure everything was tight and secure. Didn’t want any leaks down the line.
The shower head went on next. Screwed it in nice and snug. Then I mounted the shower curtain rod. Had to drill some holes for that, but nothing too crazy.

Time for the moment of truth. I turned on the water. Held my breath. And…success! No leaks! The water pressure was actually pretty good too. The rainfall shower head was definitely a win.
Lastly, the finishing touches. I hung up the shower curtain, threw down a non-slip mat, and added a little shelf for my shampoo and soap. Boom! Men’s locker room shower, complete.
Here’s what I learned. Planning is key. Measure everything twice, cut once. And don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty. It was a fun little project, and now I have a pretty sweet shower setup.

- Shopping & Gathering Materials
- Demolition of the Old Shower Fixtures

Challenges I Faced
Look, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. I had a few hiccups along the way.
- The stubborn bolt, as I mentioned before.
- Figuring out the right PVC pipe sizes. Ended up having to make a couple of trips back to the hardware store.
- Making sure everything was level. My bathroom floor isn’t perfectly even, so I had to get creative with some shims.
But hey, that’s part of the fun, right? You learn from your mistakes and move on.
