Okay, so today I decided to dive into this “motomoto japanese” thing. I’d seen it pop up here and there, and honestly, I was curious. What the heck was it?
First Steps: What is this thing?
I started, like anyone else, by just searching “motomoto japanese”. I mean, where else do you begin, right? I saw a bunch of stuff, some videos, some articles, it was all pretty vague.
Getting My Hands Dirty
So, with no clear starting point, I just clicked on the first video I saw. It had a cute animated character, so, you know, why not? The video was, well… interesting. It involved some pretty basic Japanese phrases, but presented in a kind of repetitive, almost hypnotic way.
I watched a couple more, and I started to get a feel for it. It’s like, they’re trying to drill these phrases into your head through repetition and catchy tunes. Think baby songs, but for Japanese learners. Kind of clever, actually.
Practice Makes Perfect?
After watching a handful of these videos, I decided to try it out myself. I picked a simple phrase from one of the videos – “おはようございます” (ohayou gozaimasu), which means “good morning”.
- Repeating, Repeating, Repeating: I said it out loud, over and over. I felt a little silly, but hey, that’s how you learn, right?
- Writing it Out: I grabbed a notebook and wrote the phrase down multiple times, both in hiragana and romaji, just to help it sink in.
- Testing Myself: I tried to use the phrase throughout the day, even if it was just muttering it to myself when I woke up.
My Thoughts, So Far
Honestly, it’s kind of fun! It’s definitely a different approach to learning Japanese. It’s not about grammar rules or complex sentence structures, at least not at this stage. It’s more about getting comfortable with the sounds and rhythm of the language.
I wouldn’t say I’m fluent in Japanese after a day of “motomoto japanese,” not even close! But, I do feel like I’ve got a tiny foothold. It’s like, I’ve planted a seed, and now I’m curious to see if it will grow. I might keep at it, see where this “motomoto” thing takes me. It’s certainly more engaging than staring at a textbook!
