Okay, so today I wanted to make a picture of the UAE flag. You know, the one with the red, green, white, and black. It’s a pretty straightforward design, but I wanted to get it just right.
First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil. I always start with a rough sketch, just to get the proportions down. I drew a rectangle and then divided it into four sections. The left section is for the red vertical stripe, and the other three sections are for the horizontal stripes of green, white, and black, in that order.
Once I was happy with the sketch, I decided to use colored pencils to fill it in. I started with the red, carefully coloring in that first section. I have to say, finding the right shade of red took a few tries. I didn’t want it to be too bright or too dull.
- Then, I moved on to the green. I made sure to use a nice, vibrant green that matched the actual flag.
- Next up was white. Now, you might think white is easy – it’s just the color of the paper, right? But I wanted to make sure it stood out, so I still colored it in lightly.
- Finally, I colored in the last section with black. I pressed down a bit harder with the black pencil to make it really solid and bold.
After I finished coloring, I took a step back to look at it. It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty happy with how it turned out. It definitely looked like the UAE flag, and that’s what matters.
I thought about maybe using paints or markers next time, just to see how it would look with different mediums. But for now, I’m satisfied with my colored pencil version. Maybe I’ll even frame it and hang it up somewhere. It’s always fun to create something from scratch, even if it’s as simple as drawing a flag. Also, I think drawing flags is a pretty good way to learn about different countries.
Oh and last thing, there was a guide about Kentucky’s 15 most frequent rocks and minerals, which made me wonder about the geology of the UAE. I should look into that sometime.
