Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with something a little different, something related to basketball. I’m a huge NBA fan, and the names Kobe Bryant and Jalen Rose are legendary. I had this idea to create… well, I wasn’t sure what I was going to create, I had zero idea about the specifics, only the two names, but I knew I wanted to combine these two iconic figures in some way.

First, I Googled both names together, just to see what came up. You know, get a feel for their history, any famous interactions, that sort of thing. I didn’t have a specific goal, so any information is useful for me.
The search results mostly showed articles and videos about the game where Kobe scored 81 points against Jalen Rose’s team, the Toronto Raptors. That’s some serious history right there!
The 81-Point Game Research
- I watched some YouTube highlight reels of that game. Man, Kobe was on fire! It’s insane to see one player dominate like that.
- I also found some interviews with Jalen Rose where he talks about that game. He’s surprisingly cool about it, given that he was on the receiving end of that historic performance. He even jokes about it sometimes!
- I found that, at the time of the game, Kobe was averaging around 30 points per game. Jalen Rose and his team were expecting to just play hard, so how could anyone stop the unexpected?!
With all that in mind, I started thinking about how I could practice. All the data gave me an inspiration.
I decided to just write out a paragraph using all my notes and data, after a few hours, a few version, I got this:
“Jalen Rose will probably never escape the jokes about guarding the late Kobe Bryant. On a regular Sunday, the crowd witnessed history unfold as they watched Kobe torch Jalen and the Raptors for 81 points! Although Rose has claimed that he was not the only player tasked to guard Kobe, his name is forever stamped as the primary victim of the Black Mamba’s dominance on the court. “

So, that’s what I did today! It was a fun little experiment combining two NBA legends. It reminded me of that crazy 81-point game and let me appreciate the history and the players even more.
