Alright, folks, gather around because I’m about to tell you about my little adventure with the Kawasaki KLX 250. I’ve always been a bit of a speed junkie, and I wanted to see what this bad boy could really do. So, I decided to take it out for a spin and push it to its limits.

First off, I hopped on the bike and got a feel for it. The seat is pretty flat, I gotta say, and it’s not too uncomfortable for a small bike like this. It’s about 35 inches, which was perfect for me. After cruising around the neighborhood to warm it up, I headed out to a long stretch of open road where I could really open it up.
The KLX 250 is a dual-purpose motorcycle, which means it’s made for both on-road and off-road riding. It’s been around since 2009, so it’s got a bit of a reputation. I’d heard different things about its top speed, some say around 72 mph, others claim higher. So, I was determined to find out for myself.
I started accelerating, and the bike responded well. It’s not the most powerful thing out there, with about 22 horsepower, but it’s got some pep. As I picked up speed, I noticed that it handled surprisingly well on the highway, even at higher speeds.
- First Attempt: I pushed it as fast as I could, and the speedometer climbed steadily. I hit around 75 mph, but I felt like it had a little more to give.
- Second Attempt: I tucked in a bit more, trying to reduce wind resistance, I managed to get it up to around 80 mph. Still, I wasn’t convinced that was its absolute max.
- Final Push: On my last run, I really gave it my all. I leaned in as much as possible, and held the throttle wide open. The needle on the speedometer crept up, and I finally hit 90 mph!
I was pretty stoked to see 90 mph on the speedometer, and I felt that this was close to its top speed under normal riding conditions. The bike performed really well, and I was impressed with how stable it felt even at that speed. It’s a solid little machine, and it definitely exceeded my expectations. For a 250, the KLX is a surprisingly good highway cruiser.
So, there you have it. My little speed test with the Kawasaki KLX 250. It was a blast pushing it to its limits, and I’m happy to report that it can definitely hold its own on the open road. If you’re looking for a fun, versatile bike that can handle both city streets and highway speeds, the KLX 250 is definitely worth checking out.
