Okay, so today I decided to mess around with some baseball data, specifically looking at Juan Padilla’s stats. I’ve always been a bit of a stats nerd, and baseball is full of them, so it’s a perfect match.
First, I found a reliable source that looked pretty solid. I needed something that had all the usual stuff like batting average, home runs, RBIs, and all that good information. The source had his whole career laid out year by year.
Digging In
I started by just glancing over the numbers. Nothing fancy, just getting a feel for his overall performance throughout his career. I noticed some pretty clear trends. For example his best year, and other specific years. This was a great initial step and way to grasp his overall information.
Then, I wanted to compare his stats to some other players. I picked a few well-known names, to use as a benchmark. This helped put Padilla’s numbers into context.
Getting Detailed
- I started calculating some of the more advanced metrics.
- I figured this would give me a better understanding of his overall value.
- I also used some of these stats from other players.
Honestly, it was a pretty fun afternoon. I learned a lot about Juan Padilla, and about baseball stats in general. It’s amazing how much information is out there, and how much you can learn by just digging into it. I might even do this again soon with another player. I’m already thinking about who I could explore next!
