Okay, so today I decided to get my hands dirty with this “ranking tournament” thing. I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about it, and, well, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So, I jumped right in!

First, I needed to figure out what I even wanted to rank. I mean, you can rank anything, right? Favorite ice cream flavors, best superhero movies, cutest puppies… the possibilities are endless. I finally settled on ranking different types of coffee, because, let’s be honest, I can’t function without my daily caffeine fix.
Getting Started – The Setup
I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen – old school, I know – and started listing out all the different coffee types I could think of. We’re talking:
- Espresso
 - Americano
 - Latte
 - Cappuccino
 - Mocha
 - Flat White
 - And a bunch more…

Next, I needed a way to actually do the ranking. I thought about doing some complicated scoring system, but then I realized: Keep It Simple, Stupid! So, I decided on a head-to-head, winner-takes-all approach. It’s like a mini coffee battle royale!
The Tournament Begins!
I started comparing them in pairs. Espresso vs. Americano? Americano wins (for me, at least – espresso is just too intense sometimes). Latte vs. Cappuccino? Latte all the way – I’m a sucker for that creamy milk.
I created this little chart like so:

Round 1:
- Espresso vs Americano–>Americano
 - Latte vs Cappuccino–>Latte
 - Mocha vs Flat white–>Mocha

It went Round by Round and I went to record:
Round 2:
- Americano vs Latte–>Latte
 - Mocha vs …–>…

And so on. I kept going, round after round, until I was left with just one champion standing. It was actually pretty fun, like a little game. And it helped me realize why I prefer certain coffees over others. It’s all about that balance of bitterness, sweetness, and milkiness, you know?
The Grand Finale
My final battle, My personal ultimate coffee champion, was a Latte ! No surprise there, I guess, but it was a great way to spend some time and learn a bit more about my coffee preferences!

It’s not exactly rocket science, but it was a fun little experiment. And hey, now I have a definitive ranking of my favorite coffees. Maybe I’ll try ranking different brewing methods next. Stay tuned!
