Okay, guys, let’s talk about my recent trip. I was planning this whole thing around “Italy v Costa Rica,” and let me tell you, it turned into quite the adventure.

First off, I started by looking up cool places in Italy. I mean, Italy, right? Who wouldn’t want to go there? I stumbled upon this place called the Amalfi Coast. Pictures looked amazing, with all those colorful houses on cliffs by the sea. I figured, “Why not start there?” I booked a flight and a little Airbnb with a sea view. Totally worth it, by the way.
Amalfi Coast
- Wandered through the streets of some small towns.
- Ate at some local restaurants. The food, oh my god, the food was incredible.
- Spent hours just sitting by the water, doing nothing.
Then I remembered, “Hey, I gotta check out other places too!” So, I looked up Sardinia and found this national park, Golfo di Orosei and Gennargentu. I’m not even going to pretend I can pronounce those names correctly. Anyway, it looked wild and beautiful, so I took a ferry there.
Sardinia
- Hiked a bit in the park. The views were breathtaking.
- Found some hidden beaches that I pretty much had to myself.
- Tried some local food there too. Different from the Amalfi Coast, but just as good.
After that, I thought, “Since I’m in this part of the world, might as well explore a bit more.” I ended up hopping around the Salento Peninsula, which they call Italy’s “heel.”
Salento Peninsula
- Visited little harbor towns like Trani and Molfetto.
- Checked out this place called Polignano a Mare. It’s famous for cliff diving, which I did not do, but it was cool to watch.
- Enjoyed the slower pace of life there.
Next, I decided to go to the Gargano Peninsula. I just rented a car and drove. Best decision ever. The roads there are something else.
Gargano Peninsula
- Stopped at every viewpoint I could find.
- Took a million pictures.
- Met some really friendly locals who gave me tips on where to eat.
Finally, I flew to Sicily because, well, it’s Sicily. And I found these islands called the Aeolian Islands. You need to take another boat to get there, but it’s totally worth it.

Aeolian Islands
- Explored these volcanic islands.
- Swam in the clearest water I’ve ever seen.
- Ate more amazing food. Seriously, Italian food is the best.
So, that was my “Italy v Costa Rica” trip, or at least the Italy part of it. I never actually made it to Costa Rica, but honestly, I don’t even care. Italy was so much more than I expected. I saw amazing things, met interesting people, and ate like a king. If you’re thinking about a trip, just go. You won’t regret it.
