Okay, so I saw this thing online about giving Ethel your eye in Baldur’s Gate 3 and I was like, “What the heck happens? I gotta try this!” So, I fired up the game, and loaded a save I had near Ethel’s place.
First, I went to the teahouse, and made sure I had already started the whole interaction with Ethel. You gotta talk to her, and go through the conversation, and all that.
The Risky Choice
When she offered the deal about my eye, I was kind of hesitant. I mean, it’s my eye! But curiosity got the better of me, so I accepted.
- I selected the dialogue option where I agreed to give her my eye.
- My character made some really dramatic, whiny noises, it was pretty funny.
Then, Ethel did her weird magic thing. And… yup, my character was one eye short. But it wasn’t totally gone! It looked all milky and weird. I got this permanent condition called “Paid the Price”. It gave me a disadvantage on Perception checks, which made sense, I guess. Also, I couldn’t land critical hits anymore. Ouch!
On the plus side, if you do some checks when interacting with other hag, You will find some intersting dialogue.
Honestly, I kind of regretted it a little. It’s a cool little detail, but the downsides are pretty rough. I reloaded my save afterward because, well, I like having two eyes. But, it was a pretty wild experience to see how the game actually handled it. I figured it was worth sharing!
