Is England Tiny? How Big Is England Compared to the United States

Okay, so I was messing around online the other day, and this random question popped into my head: “how big is England compared to the United States?” I mean, we always hear about how things are bigger in America, but I wanted to see the actual numbers.

Starting My Little Investigation

First, I grabbed my phone and fired up Google. Just typed in “area of England” and “area of the United States”. Simple enough, right?

The results? Well, England came in at around 50,301 square miles. The USA? A whopping 3.8 million square miles. I stared at the screen for a second. That’s a HUGE difference!

Doing Some Quick Math

To really get a feel for it, I decided to do a little bit of math. Nothing fancy, just some division to see how many times England could fit into the USA.

  • I took the USA’s area (3.8 million) and divided it by England’s area (50,301).

And the result? The USA is roughly 75 times bigger than England. I visualize that in my mind. I can’t believe the big difference.

So, yeah, that’s my little experiment. It’s pretty clear that the USA is massively bigger than England. It was a fun little thing to check out, and I’m glad I took a few minutes to satisfy my curiosity!
