Okay, so, I gotta tell you about this whole “scatterbrained and unreliable” thing I’ve been dealing with. It’s been a real pain, and honestly, I felt like I was losing my mind. I started noticing it a while back. I’d forget things constantly, even important stuff. Like, I’d make plans with friends and then completely space out on them. Or I’d start a task at work and then get sidetracked by something else, and the original task would just… vanish from my brain.

It was frustrating, and it was starting to affect my relationships and my job. I felt like I couldn’t trust myself to follow through on anything. I was working long hours, not sleeping well, and constantly worrying about stuff. Probably some depression stuff too.

The Whole Process Started with Some Serious Denial

At first, I just tried to ignore it. I’d make excuses for myself, like, “Oh, I’m just tired,” or “Everyone forgets things sometimes.” But deep down, I knew something wasn’t right. Finally, I decided I needed to do something about it.

Then Came the “Trying Everything” Phase

  • I started by trying to get more organized. I bought a planner, downloaded all sorts of productivity apps, and tried to stick to a schedule.
  • Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. But I always ended up back in the same place.
  • I even tried meditation. I’d sit there, trying to clear my mind, but it was like trying to empty the ocean with a teaspoon. My thoughts were all over the place.
  • I tried to improve my sleep, but it is hard.
  • I started to pay attention to what I was eating. You know, cut back on the junk food and try to eat more healthy stuff.

Finally, a Breakthrough

Honestly, the real change started happening when I began talking to people about it. I opened up to a couple of close friends, and they were super supportive. They didn’t judge me, and they even shared some of their own struggles. Just talking about the problem seemed to make it seem less overwhelming. I even talked to my doctor, and she suggested a few things that might help, like seeing a therapist, and she also told me that I had symptoms of ADHD. I am still working on it, but it is getting better.

It’s still a work in progress, but I’m definitely feeling more in control these days. I still have moments where I feel scattered, but now I know how to deal with it. I take breaks when I need them, I try to focus on one thing at a time, and I don’t beat myself up when I slip up. It’s all about being kind to yourself and remembering that you’re not alone.

So, yeah, that’s my story about dealing with being scatterbrained and unreliable. It’s not pretty, but it’s real. And if you’re going through something similar, just know that it’s okay to ask for help. It doesn’t make you weak; it makes you human.
