Figuring Out the Honda Grom’s Engine Size
So, the other day, I was tinkering in the garage, just looking over my bikes. The little Honda Grom was sitting there, and it got me thinking. You know, for such a fun little machine, I sometimes forget the exact specs. Someone asked me recently, “Hey, how many cc’s does that Grom actually have?” And honestly, I paused for a second.

It’s funny how you can own something and ride it all the time, but the specific numbers sometimes slip your mind. I knew it wasn’t super powerful, obviously, that’s part of its charm. But was it 110? 150? Nah, that didn’t feel right.
My first instinct was just to walk over and look at the engine casing or the paperwork. I keep a folder with all the manuals and stuff.
- Pulled out the Grom’s manual first. Flipped through the tech specs section.
- Also remembered seeing it stamped on the engine itself somewhere, but it was kinda grimy down there, didn’t bother wiping it clean right then.
- Did a quick check online too, just to confirm what I remembered seeing in the manual. Took like two seconds.
Turns out, it’s pretty straightforward. The Honda Grom, at least the standard ones like mine and most you see buzzing around, packs a 125cc engine. Well, technically sometimes listed as 124.9cc depending on the exact year, but everyone just calls it a 125.
It’s not a lot, for sure, but that’s exactly what makes the Grom what it is. Enough pep to be fun around town, easy to handle, and super forgiving for newer riders or just for goofing off. So yeah, if you were wondering, that little pocket rocket is a 125. Simple as that.
