Okay, so the other day, I was digging around the internet, you know, just killing time, and I stumbled upon this whole rabbit hole about the 1996 NFL draft. Man, it brought back memories! I used to be glued to the TV during the draft back in the day.

First, I opened my browser and typed in “1996 NFL draft” into the search bar. Hit enter, and bam! A whole bunch of websites popped up. Most of them were just, like, basic information, but there were a few that really caught my eye.
So, I started clicking around. I went to this one site, I think it was called, and it had a pretty good breakdown of the whole draft. They had all the rounds listed, who got picked where, all that good stuff. I scrolled through the first round, and it was wild seeing all those names again.
- Keyshawn Johnson going first overall to the Jets. That was huge back then.
- Then, you had guys like Simeon Rice, Jonathan Ogden, Eddie George…
- And of course, Marvin Harrison, later in the first.
After that, I got curious about some of the later-round picks. I mean, everybody knows about the first-rounders, but the real gems are sometimes found later on, right?
So I filtered the results to show only, let’s say, the third round. Found this one dude, T.O., Terrell Owens, drafted by the 49ers. Back then, he wasn’t a big name, but look at him now!
Deep Dive into Player Stats
Then I decided to really geek out. I found another site that had, like, detailed stats for each player. I picked a few names from the ’96 draft, guys I remembered watching, and started comparing their college stats to their NFL careers.

It was kinda cool to see how some guys lived up to the hype, and others, well, not so much. It just goes to show, you never really know how these things will turn out.
Compiling My Notes
I spent a good couple of hours on this. I even opened up a notepad on my computer and started jotting down some notes. Nothing fancy, just, like, names, teams, and some random thoughts I had. It felt like I was back in ’96, arguing with my buddies about who the best picks were.
Finally, I closed all the tabs and leaned back in my chair. It was a fun little trip down memory lane. The 1996 NFL draft was a pretty big deal, and it was cool to revisit it after all these years.
Maybe I’ll do this again sometime. There are so many other drafts to explore. But for now, that was my little adventure with the 1996 NFL draft. Hope you enjoyed hearing about it!
