Okay, so today I wanna talk about “gimnasia y tiro”, which, you know, is basically gymnastics and shooting. Sounds kinda wild, right? But it got me thinking about getting in shape and trying something new. So, I started looking into what’s around here in Glendale, AZ, where I live.
First off, I checked out some martial arts places. I mean, it’s not exactly gymnastics, but it’s physical, and hey, self-defense skills are always a plus. I found this place called REACT Defense Systems/Krav Maga of Glendale. They teach Krav Maga, which is like this Israeli self-defense system. Seems pretty intense, but cool. Then there’s Shaolin Arts Kung Fu & Tai Chi. Kung Fu’s always fascinated me, and Tai Chi’s supposed to be great for balance and flexibility. And there were some photos of the club.
- All-Star Karate
- Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun of Arizona
These two also popped up. Honestly, there are tons of options for martial arts here.
But then I thought, maybe boxing’s more my speed. It’s a great workout, and it’s got that whole “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee” thing going on. So I started digging into boxing gyms.
- JL Boxing Academy
- TITLE Boxing Club
- Ronin Fight Club
- Pro Edge Boxing
- MMA & Brazilian Jiujitsu
- Camelback Boxing Gym
- KG Quality Boxing
There are many places too. All of them have a good reputation I think, but I haven’t decided yet.
And then, in a totally different direction, I stumbled upon this Club de Gimnasia y Tiro Oficial thing online. It looks like it’s a sports club, maybe in Argentina or something? They had a bunch of photos in an album called “Fútbol Profesional: Entrenamiento,” which I guess means “Professional Soccer: Training.”
They were doing all sorts of drills and exercises. It reminded me that there are so many ways to get fit and have fun. I also saw some info about private lessons starting at $50 an hour. Not a bad deal if you want some personalized attention.
So, yeah, that’s where I’m at with this whole “gimnasia y tiro” exploration. I’m still not sure exactly what I wanna do, but I’m leaning towards checking out one of those boxing gyms. Or maybe I’ll just try to find a local park and do some pull-ups and run around. Who knows? The important thing is to just get moving, right? And I took some photos and videos when I walked around.
To sum up
It’s all about finding what works for you. And hey, if anyone’s got any recommendations or wants to join me on this fitness adventure, hit me up! I’d love to hear what you guys think I should order to eat after training.
