Okay, so, like everyone else, I noticed Justin Herbert’s new haircut. I mean, the guy went from having this awesome, thick head of hair to a complete buzz cut. It was wild! I couldn’t resist trying it out myself.
First, I did some digging around. Turns out, this whole thing blew up on Twitter back when he first got it done. Apparently, he got it chopped between Weeks 10 and 11 of the football season. People were saying he looked five pounds lighter, haha! I watched this “How to Get Justin Herbert’s Hair” tutorial by this Jake the Barber guy, and the guy in the video had a quiff, which is totally different! But, I guess that was before Herbert went all-in with the buzz.
Then I started thinking about Herbert’s whole vibe. The dude’s a superstar quarterback but he’s not flashy, you know? Super grounded and low-key. He signed this insane contract for like $262 million, making him the highest-paid player at one point, and he’s still this chill guy. That’s probably why his hair before, that flowy, effortless look, was such a big part of his image. It just fit him.
- I grabbed my clippers. Now, I’ve buzzed my own hair before, so I wasn’t a total newbie. But this was different. This was the Justin Herbert buzz cut.
- I started with the sides, going pretty short. I used the shortest guard, and I went super slow. It felt weird buzzing off that much hair, I am not gonna lie.
- Next up, the top. I debated for a second if I should use one size longer just for a touch of difference, but finally decided to use the same shortest guard.
- Finally, the back of the head. I grabbed the hand mirror and tried my best to follow what I had done on the sides and top. The most difficult part is the lower middle back.
- Once I was done, I hopped in the shower to wash off all the loose hair and get a better look.
And that’s it. I now have the Justin Herbert buzz cut. It’s definitely a statement, and honestly, I kind of dig it. It’s super low-maintenance, and it’s got that same simple, no-nonsense feel that Herbert himself has. Plus, it saved me a trip to the barber, and that’s always a win!
