Okay, so, today I wanted to try and get a shiny Morpeko in Pokemon Violet. I’ve seen some folks online snag one, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to figure out where Morpeko even hangs out. Turns out, they’re not super common, but you can usually find them in a few areas around the map. I decided to focus on the area around that one big city, you know, the one with all the shops… Mesagoza? Yeah, that’s it.
I flew over there and started wandering around the grassy areas just outside the city. Honestly, finding a regular Morpeko was harder than I expected! It took me a good 20 minutes of running around in circles before one finally popped up.
The Shiny Hunting Process
Now, for the actual shiny hunting part. I’m not a super patient person, so I didn’t want to do any complicated breeding setups. I just wanted to do the good ol’ “run away from everything that’s not shiny” method. So, I got on my Koraidon and started doing laps around the area.
Basically, the plan was simple:
- Encounter a Morpeko.
- If it’s not shiny, run away.
- Repeat until my eyes bleed or I find a shiny.
And let me tell you, it was a GRIND. I saw so many normal Morpeko, it’s not even funny. I started getting really good at spotting them from a distance, though. You get a feel for the colors after a while.
I did this for a solid, like, two hours? Maybe three? I lost track of time. I even put on a podcast to keep myself entertained. My Koraidon probably got super tired of running in circles, haha.

But then, IT HAPPENED. I encountered a Morpeko, and I almost ran away out of habit, but something seemed…off. The colors! It was a different shade! A SHINY MORPEKO! My heart skipped a beat, I swear.
I was so scared of messing it up. I carefully selected a Poke Ball (I went with a Luxury Ball, because why not?), threw it, and held my breath. One shake… two shakes… three shakes… CLICK!
I CAUGHT IT! I actually caught a shiny Morpeko! I was so stoked! It’s a female, and I named her “Snackers” because, well, Morpeko is always hungry, right?
So, yeah, that was my day. Spent hours running around, but it was totally worth it. Shiny hunting can be a real test of patience, but the feeling when you finally find one is amazing. If you’re thinking about trying it, I say go for it! Just be prepared for the grind. It’s all part of the fun… I guess!
