Okay, so I got really curious about this whole Cadillac F1 engine thing. You hear the name Cadillac, and you think big V8s, right? That rumble. So when they announced they were looking at F1, the first thing that popped into my head was: what on earth is their engine going to sound like? Totally different world from what they usually build.

I decided I had to try and hear it, or at least get an idea. My first move was just hitting up the usual spots online, searching around for videos or sound clips. Typed in things like “Cadillac F1 engine sound test” or “Cadillac F1 power unit noise”. Honestly, finding something concrete wasn’t straightforward. Lots of news, lots of speculation, but actual audio? Pretty scarce.
Spent a bit of time digging through forums, watching concept videos people made, that sort of thing. You know how it is, you go down a rabbit hole. Found a few clips claiming to be simulations or artist impressions. Hard to know what’s real and what’s just someone guessing, but it was the best I could find for now.
Hearing Something Finally
So, I clicked on a few of these concept sounds. What did I hear? Well, it wasn’t that classic American car growl, that’s for sure. It was definitely in the F1 ballpark – high-revving, a bit of a shriek like the current V6 hybrids. Maybe, and this is just me listening on laptop speakers, maybe there was a slightly different tone? Hard to say for sure.
- It was high-pitched, like you’d expect from an F1 engine.
- Didn’t sound wildly different from the existing engines, based on the concepts I heard.
- Definitely not a traditional Cadillac sound.
My thoughts? Well, it kind of makes sense. The F1 engine rules are super strict. Everyone’s working within tight limits, so you’re probably not going to get massively different sounds between teams using similar power unit formulas. It’s not like the old days with V10s and V12s all sounding unique.
It was still interesting to seek it out, though. Hearing something, even if it was just a simulation or concept, made the whole Cadillac F1 project feel a bit more tangible. It wasn’t quite the wild, unique sound I maybe hoped for deep down, but it was a sound nonetheless. Guess we’ll have to wait until they actually hit the track for real to know for sure. But yeah, that was my little hunt for the Cadillac F1 sound.
