Okay, so I decided to check out this place called Frank’s Place in Fresno. I heard they had live music and a cool vibe, so I figured, why not? It’s at 1432 Fulton Street, which is pretty easy to find.
Getting There and First Impressions
I went there on a Friday evening. The place was opened in 1928, so it has this old-school charm to it. They’ve renovated it a few times, but it still has that historical feel. When I walked in, I noticed the dark wood and the black and white polished floors. It’s kind of like a stylish nightclub, but also has that cozy, old-timey feel. They have two bars, which is great because you don’t have to wait forever to get a drink.
Exploring the History
So, this place has been used for a bunch of things over the years. It used to be a furniture store way back when it first opened. Then it was a sporting goods store, an office, and a bunch of other businesses. The staff told me that when it opened, it was connected to another place called Star Palace by a staircase. They even showed me where the staircase used to be! It’s kind of cool to think about all the different things this place has been.
The Experience
I got there around 7 PM. The place was already starting to get busy. I grabbed a drink at the bar. Bartenders Will and Sam were super friendly, and the drinks were not only reasonably priced but also really well-made. I’ve been to places where you pay a fortune for a watered-down drink, but not here. I ordered some food, and it was excellent, the service was great too.
The Music and Atmosphere
- The music started around 8 PM.
- It was a jazz band, and they were pretty good.
- It’s not every day you get to listen to live jazz in Fresno, so that was a nice treat.
- The atmosphere was lively but not too crazy.
- People were chatting, enjoying the music, and having a good time.
Wrapping Up
I stayed until about 10 PM, and by then, the place was packed. People kept coming in, and the energy was just great. I ended up chatting with some folks at the bar, and everyone was super chill. It felt like a real community spot, which is something I appreciate. They’re open until 11 PM on Fridays, so I could’ve stayed longer, but I had an early morning the next day.
Overall, I had a great time at Frank’s Place. It’s a cool spot to hang out, enjoy some live music, and have some good food and drinks. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in Fresno. I’ll probably go back there again sometime soon.
