Alright, let’s talk about getting ready for Destiny 2’s The Final Shape. Heard the preload was starting soon, or maybe it already started, gotta check these things.

Getting Started
First thing I did was check the calendar. Yeah, June 4th is the big day. Usually, they let you preload a day or two before, sometimes even earlier. Didn’t want to wait until the last minute, you know how slow downloads can be when everyone’s hammering the servers.
So, I fired up my PC, gotta use Steam for Destiny 2 myself. Opened up the Steam client, went straight to my library. Found Destiny 2 sitting there, waiting.
The Preload Process
Clicked on Destiny 2. Sometimes Steam just starts updating automatically if you have it set up that way. Mine usually prompts me. Looked around the game page in the client. Didn’t see a big obvious “PRELOAD NOW” button right away, which is typical sometimes.
Checked the ‘Downloads’ section at the bottom of the Steam window. Ah, there it was. An update scheduled for Destiny 2. It hadn’t started automatically, so I just clicked the little arrow button to force it to start now.
And there it goes. The download kicked off. Saw the download size pop up. It’s always a hefty one with these big expansions, wasn’t surprised. Gotta make sure you have enough disk space, cleared out some old stuff last week just in case.

- Checked download speed. Seemed okay, not blazing fast but steady.
- Let it run in the background. Went to grab a coffee, checked some emails.
- Kept an eye on the progress bar every now and then.
Finishing Up
Took a while, maybe an hour or two, hard to say exactly, wasn’t watching it constantly. But eventually, the download completed. Steam showed ‘Update complete’ or something like that. Clicked back to the library page for Destiny 2, and it showed ‘Ready to play’, but obviously, the new content isn’t live yet.
So yeah, preload is done. Everything downloaded, installed, patched up, whatever Steam does behind the scenes. Feels good to have that out of the way. Now just gotta wait for June 4th to actually jump in and see what The Final Shape is all about. Ready to go right on launch day, no waiting for downloads then.
