Alright folks, lemme tell you about my little adventure tackling that “ffxvi griffin” thing. Man, it was a ride!

So, it all started with me staring at a blank screen, wondering where the heck to even begin. I knew I wanted to do something cool, something that screamed Final Fantasy XVI, and the griffin was just begging to be brought to life. First thing’s first, I needed references. I spent a good chunk of time scouring the internet, grabbing screenshots, watching gameplay videos – anything I could get my hands on. Gotta know your subject, right?
Next up, the messy part: sketching. I’m not gonna lie, my initial sketches looked like a chicken had attacked a pencil. But hey, gotta start somewhere! I kept at it, refining the lines, figuring out the pose, the proportions. Slowly but surely, the griffin started to take shape. I was aiming for that majestic, powerful vibe, but also wanted to capture the intricate details of its feathers and armor.
Then came the real work – bringing it into the digital realm. I fired up my trusty tablet and started laying down the base colors. This is where things started to get interesting. I wanted to nail the color palette, to really capture the feel of the game. Lots of earthy tones, browns, golds, with hints of blues and grays. Layer after layer, I built up the colors, adding shadows and highlights to give it depth.
The details were a killer, I’m not gonna lie. The feathers alone took forever! But I wanted to make sure they looked realistic, with individual strands catching the light. And the armor? Forget about it! Each plate had to be carefully shaded and textured to make it look like actual metal. I zoomed in, zoomed out, tweaked, tweaked, tweaked. My eyes were practically glued to the screen.
But the best part, the part that really brought it all together, was the lighting. I spent hours playing with different light sources, trying to find that sweet spot that would make the griffin pop. A little rim light here, a soft glow there – it all added up to create a sense of drama and intensity.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I called it done. Stepped back, took a good hard look, and… I was actually pretty proud of it! It wasn’t perfect, of course, but it captured the essence of the ffxvi griffin. It was powerful, majestic, and just a little bit badass.
Would I do it again? Heck yeah! It was a tough challenge, but it was also incredibly rewarding. And who knows, maybe next time I’ll tackle something even bigger and bolder. Stay tuned!
