Ducati ST3S vs. Competitors: Sport Touring Bike Comparison.

Okay, here’s my blog post about my experience with the Ducati ST3s:

Ducati ST3S vs. Competitors: Sport Touring Bike Comparison.

So, I finally got my hands on a Ducati ST3s. I’d been eyeing this bike for a while, a sport-touring machine that promised both thrills and comfort. My old bike was starting to feel, well, old, and I was itching for something with a bit more oomph and Italian flair.

The Hunt Begins

First, I scoured the usual online marketplaces. I spent hours scrolling through listings, comparing prices, conditions, and locations. I even joined a few Ducati forums to get advice from seasoned owners. It felt like a real treasure hunt, and I was determined to find the perfect ST3s for me.

Finding “The One”

After a few weeks of searching, I found a listing that caught my eye. A beautiful red ST3s, with relatively low mileage and a few tasteful upgrades. The seller was local, which was a huge bonus. I fired off an email immediately, expressing my interest and setting up a time to see the bike in person.

The Test Ride

Seeing the bike in the flesh was even better than the pictures. It was immaculate! The seller was a genuine enthusiast who clearly loved and cared for the machine. After a thorough inspection, I threw my leg over the saddle and took it for a spin. The engine purred to life, and that signature Ducati rumble sent shivers down my spine. The power delivery was smooth and linear, and the handling was incredibly responsive. I was hooked!

Making it Mine

After a bit of friendly negotiation, we settled on a price. I handed over the cash, signed the paperwork, and just like that, I was the proud owner of a Ducati ST3s. The ride home was exhilarating. I felt like a kid with a new toy, grinning from ear to ear. The engine just felt great!

Living with the ST3s

Since then, I’ve put a few thousand miles on the bike. I’ve taken it on weekend trips, commuted to work, and even done a track day. It’s proven to be a remarkably versatile machine. The comfortable riding position and ample luggage capacity make it perfect for long hauls, while the powerful engine and sharp handling make it a blast on twisty roads and the track.

Mods and Maintenance

  • I added a taller windscreen for better wind protection on long rides.
  • I installed some heated grips, which have been a lifesaver on chilly mornings.
  • I swapped out the stock exhaust for a Termignoni system. It sounds incredible!
  • I also changed the oil several times.

Maintenance has been relatively straightforward. I’ve done the basic stuff myself, like oil changes and chain adjustments.I’ve also become super familiar with the bike’s service manual.

Overall, I’m absolutely thrilled with my Ducati ST3s. It’s a fantastic bike that combines performance, comfort, and style in a way that few other machines can match. If you’re looking for a sport-touring bike that can do it all, I highly recommend checking one out. You might just fall in love, like I did!
