Curious about Tiger Woods WITB? Discover every driver, iron, and putter he carries now.

Okay, let’s talk about this Tiger Woods WITB thing. For years, man, I was obsessed. Like, really obsessed. Every time he played, especially during those dominant years, I wasn’t just watching his shots, I was squinting at the screen trying to figure out exactly what clubs he was pulling.

I spent so much time digging around. Old golf websites, forums, grainy pictures, anything I could find. What driver shaft was he testing? What irons did he really have, not just the ones with the brand name stamped on them? Which version of that Scotty Cameron putter was it this week? It felt like solving some big mystery.

It got to a point where I thought, maybe, just maybe, if I got some gear like his, some of that magic would rub off. Crazy, right? But I went for it. I couldn’t afford his exact stuff, obviously, especially not that putter he made famous. But I found some older muscle back irons, similar style to what he used for ages. Found a used set, paid more than I should have.

I took them to the range. Felt pretty cool pulling them out of the bag. Looked the part, you know? Then I tried to hit them. Oh boy. It was rough. I mean, really rough. Felt like trying to hit a marble with a twig. Mishits stung my hands like crazy. My usual chunky shots turned into total whiffs or grounders that barely went anywhere. These things were demanding.

The Hard Truth

That was the moment it clicked. It wasn’t about the clubs. It was never just about the clubs. Tiger could probably beat me senseless using a rusty set from a garage sale. Those irons didn’t make me Tiger Woods; they just showed me how not Tiger Woods I really was. My swing wasn’t ready for that kind of equipment. Heck, my swing still isn’t!

So, I sold those irons pretty quickly. Lost some money, gained some perspective. It kinda killed the obsession, honestly. I realized chasing his exact setup was pointless for my own game.

  • Lesson one: My swing is not Tiger’s swing.
  • Lesson two: Pro gear is built for pros, not weekend hackers like me.
  • Lesson three: Spending time practicing is way better than spending time researching clubs online.

Now, I still find WITB stuff interesting, seeing what the top guys are using. But it’s just curiosity. I don’t think getting Rory’s driver or Scottie’s irons is going to magically fix my slice or make me putt better. I learned to focus on finding clubs that fit my game, my swing speed, my (lack of) skill level. It’s been a much better approach. Still love watching Tiger play, though. But now I just watch the shots, not the gear.
