Crown Royal Red White and Blue: Tasting Notes & What Makes It Special.

Okay, so I’ve been seeing these “Crown Royal Red White and Blue” bags all over Pinterest and decided, “Hey, I can do that!” I mean, how hard could it be, right? Famous last words, I tell ya.

Gathering Supplies

First things first, I needed those Crown Royal bags. I’m not a big whiskey drinker, so I asked around. My buddy, Mark, had a few empties he was happy to give away. Score! The Red White and Blue special edition bags are a bit harder to come by, so I got lucky with some help from my friend. I got about, let’s say, 5 of the correct bags, washed them out, and let them air dry. Gotta get rid of that whiskey smell, you know?

The Sewing Saga

Next up, I dusted off my old sewing machine. It’s one of those basic models, nothing fancy. I threaded it up with some strong, blue thread – figured that would blend in nicely. Now, I’m no pro at sewing, more of a “straight line” kind of guy. I laid out the bags, trying to figure out a decent pattern. It was like a boozy jigsaw puzzle.

I started pinning the bags together, edge to edge. This took some time, making sure everything lined up semi-decently. Then, the sewing began. Slow and steady, that was my motto. I did a simple straight stitch along the edges, backstitching at the beginning and end to secure it. It took me, huh, let’s see. It’s at least 2 hours to finish all the sewing.

  • Sewing the sides together? Check.
  • Bottom seam? Double-check.

I made it to reinforce some of the corners, just in case. I also sewed the handles, the blue ones, on the blue fabric.

The Final Result

Honestly, it turned out… okay. It’s definitely handmade, that’s for sure. A few crooked lines here and there, but it holds together! It’s got that rustic, “I made this while watching football” vibe. I could maybe use it to hold… I dunno, tools? Or maybe as a quirky gift bag? The possibilities are endless!

Would I do it again? Maybe. It was a fun little project, and it’s definitely a conversation starter. Plus, I got to upcycle some old bags, which is always a good thing. If you’re thinking of trying it, I’d say go for it! Just don’t expect perfection, and have some fun with it. Don’t be like me, though. Be sure you have enough fabric, and ask your friends earlier for the bags!
