Cracked Horse Hoof Treatment: Easy Guide for Horse Owners.

Okay, so yesterday, I noticed one of my horse’s hooves looked pretty messed up. It had a big crack running down the side, and I got super worried. I mean, I’m no farrier, but I know a cracked hoof isn’t good news.

My DIY Hoof Repair Journey

First thing I did was give the hoof a good clean. I grabbed a hoof pick and carefully removed all the dirt and debris stuck in there. I wanted to get a really good look at the damage, you know?

After cleaning it out, I rinsed the whole hoof with water. I made sure to get all the soap and any remaining gunk off. Gotta keep things clean to prevent any nasty infections, right?

Then, I took a closer look at the crack. It was pretty deep, but thankfully, it didn’t seem to be going all the way up to the coronary band. That’s a relief!

Next, I gently filed down the edges of the crack. I used a rasp for this, just trying to smooth things out a bit and prevent it from snagging on anything. I’m just be super careful not to take off too much.

I will keep a good eye on the cracked hoof.I will do regular check to make sure is no sign of getting worse.
