Alright, so I wanted to get into Gang Beasts with my buddies, and we all wanted to play on one PC. Figuring out the controls was a bit of a mess at first, but we got there. Here’s the lowdown on how we did it:
Figuring out the Basics
First things first, we fired up the game and jumped into a local match. We quickly realized everyone needed a controller or to share the keyboard. The game doesn’t spell it all out, so it was trial and error from the get-go.
Keyboard Chaos
We started with the keyboard because, why not? It’s right there. Here’s what we cobbled together:
- Player 1:
- Movement: WASD
- Left Punch: J(We tried others, but I stuck.)
- Right Punch: L (Felt clunky.)
- Jump: I (A bit of a stretch.)
- Headbutt: K (The only key in the keybind that’s logical.)
- Kick: O(Also felt clunky.)
Experimenting and Adjusting
We spent a good amount of time just messing around. We’d pause, go into the controls menu, and try different keys. One friend wanted to use the arrow keys, and that created total chaos. We ended up almost breaking the computer. Finally, this is what we all agreed to use.
- Player 1:
- Movement: WASD
- Left Punch: V
- Right Punch: B
- Jump: Space
- Headbutt: N
- Kick/Lift: N (Tap for kick, hold for lift)
- Player 2:
- Movement: Arrow Keys
- Left Punch: ,(comma key)
- Right Punch: .(period key)
- Jump:Right Ctrl
- Headbutt:/(forward slash)
- Kick/Lift: /(forward slash) (Tap for kick, hold for lift)
After finally figuring this all out, we restarted a local match, picked our goofy characters, and dove in. Even with the messed-up controls, we had a blast. I managed to toss my buddy off a building – beginner’s luck, I guess. It was awesome, and the chaotic controls made it even funnier. We even started figuring out how to lift and throw each other, which just added to the mayhem.
I can tell you that figuring it all out together was half the fun. If you’re jumping into Gang Beasts on PC, just be ready to experiment and don’t overthink it. It is a blast!
