Alright, let’s talk about my recent stopover at the Super 8 Dallas East. I needed a place to crash on the east side of town for a night, wasn’t trying to break the bank or anything. Just needed a simple room, you know? Found this place online, price seemed reasonable enough for what I was after, so I went ahead and booked it. Didn’t really think much more about it at the time.
So, I drove over there later that day, pulled into the parking lot. It looked pretty much like you’d expect a Super 8 to look. Nothing fancy, just a standard roadside motel building. Plenty of parking available, which was good. I grabbed my bag and headed into the lobby area. It was small, pretty basic setup inside. The guy working the front desk seemed alright, maybe a little bored, but he got me checked in pretty quick. No hassle, just handed over my ID and card, got the room key, and he pointed me towards the direction of my room. Easy peasy.
Getting Settled In
My room was on the second floor, I think. Walked down the outside corridor – typical motel style. The key card actually worked on the first try, which is always a little victory, right? Pushed the door open and stepped inside. First thing I noticed was the smell – that kind of strong, industrial cleaner smell. Not bad, just… noticeable. Tells you someone cleaned, at least.
Took a look around the room itself. Here’s the rundown:

The night itself was okay, sort of. The biggest issue was the air conditioning unit. Man, that thing was LOUD. It would rumble to life, cool the room down, then shut off with a clunk. Then repeat. All. Night. Long. Made it kinda hard to sleep soundly. The walls seemed thin too. I could hear muffled sounds, maybe a TV or people talking faintly from the next room over. Didn’t feel unsafe or anything like that, just wasn’t the quietest place.
The bed? It was alright. A bit saggy in the middle, maybe? Definitely not the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on, but not the worst either. I managed to get some sleep despite the noisy AC.
Morning and Checking Out
Woke up, took a quick shower. Water pressure was decent, hot water worked fine. That’s always a plus. Headed down to see what they had for breakfast. It was the usual Super 8 continental spread. Some cereal options, milk, coffee, maybe some pre-packaged pastries or muffins. Grabbed a coffee – tasted like typical motel coffee, kind of weak – and a small bite. Didn’t linger long.
Checking out was super straightforward. Just walked back to the front desk, different person there this time. Handed over my key cards. They barely mumbled a “thanks” and that was it. Back out to the car and on my way.
So, my take on the Super 8 Dallas East? Look, it served its purpose. It provided a basic roof over my head for a night at a low price point. It wasn’t disgusting, but it wasn’t sparkling clean or modern either. It was just… there. Functional. If you absolutely need the cheapest option in that area and you go in expecting a basic, worn motel experience with a potentially noisy AC, then it’ll probably do the job. Would I choose to stay there again if I had other options? Probably not. But for what it was, it was passable. Just keep your expectations firmly in check.
