So, I decided to get into this thing called a “baseball game of pepper.” I’d heard about it, you know, as a thing to do. Seemed simple enough. Basically, it’s just a quick warm-up drill before a real baseball game. Turns out, it’s actually pretty fun, and good practice, too.

First, I grabbed my bat and a few baseballs. Then, I rounded up a couple of buddies to play the fielders. We found a spot in the park – not a real baseball field, just a patch of grass, you know? I stood at one end, like the batter, and they spread out in front of me, ready to catch.
Getting Started
- Started hitting the ball to them, not too hard, just grounders and little line drives.
- They tried to catch the balls and quickly threw them back to me.
- I kept hitting, they kept catching and throwing. Back and forth, back and forth.
At first, it was a little messy. I mishit a few, and they dropped a couple. But we got into a rhythm after a while. My swings felt smoother, and their catches became more solid.
We played for maybe fifteen or twenty minutes. It was a good little workout, I have to say. Got my heart pumping a bit, and my muscles felt loose. More importantly, I felt like my hand-eye coordination was getting a bit sharper.
Wrapping Up
After we were done, we all agreed it was a pretty good way to warm up. We decided to make it a regular thing before our weekend games. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it actually seems to help with our game. So, if you’re looking for a simple way to improve your baseball skills, give pepper a try. It’s definitely worth it.
