Back Tattoos Last Names: Designs, Fonts, and Placement Tips!

Okay, so I’ve been thinking about getting a back tattoo for a while now, and I finally decided to go for it. I wanted something meaningful, something that represents my family, so I chose to get our last name inked. Sounds simple, right? It wasn’t quite that straightforward.

The Search Begins

First, I spent hours, and I mean hours, scrolling through Instagram and Pinterest. I looked at tons of different fonts and styles. Some were super fancy and script-y, others were bold and blocky. I wanted something that looked strong but still had a bit of elegance to it.

  • I narrowed it down to a few different fonts that I liked.
  • I printed them out in different sizes to see how they’d actually look.
  • I even stuck the printouts on my back with tape to get a rough idea. My wife thought I was crazy, but hey, gotta be thorough, right?

Finding the Right Artist

Next up was finding an artist. This was probably the most important part. I didn’t want to just walk into any random tattoo shop. I needed someone who specialized in lettering and had a clean, consistent style.

I asked around for recommendations and checked out online portfolios. I finally found an artist whose work I really loved. Her lines were super crisp, and she had a lot of experience with text tattoos.

The Big Day

On the day of the appointment, I was a little nervous, I’m not gonna lie. I showed the artist the font I’d chosen and the size I wanted. We spent some time figuring out the exact placement on my back. It took a few tries to get it perfectly centered and straight.

Then, the buzzing started. It didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would, more like a scratching sensation. The whole thing took about an hour and a half. The artist kept checking in to make sure I was doing okay.

The Final Result

When it was all done, I looked in the mirror and… wow. It looked amazing! Exactly what I’d envisioned. Clean, sharp, and perfectly placed. It’s a permanent tribute to my family, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Now, just gotta make sure to follow the aftercare instructions and keep it looking good for years to come!
